Zone of Silence in Mapimi Deserts

There are some sites on Earth which are solely known for their mysterious behaviour. Mexico is famous for its magical Zone of Silence. It is located just a few hundred miles from El Paso in Texas. There is a patch of four hundred miles in the middle of the deserts where no radio or TV signals work. It has been associated with the UFO phenomenon as well. The unusual properties of this tract of land have been famous among the nearby villagers from mid-nineteenth century. Some of them had even reported that hot pebbles fell upon the earth from clear skies at this location. It was a forbidden site for the people. In the 1930s there were reports that radios ceased to function in this forbidden place. The place came into public light in the 1970s when an American missile went off course and landed in these deserts of Mexico.

Zone of Silence marked along the highway

The nearest settlements to the Zone of Silence are a ragtag community named the Ceballos. The community members had known about this unusual place for many centuries and avoided it. Research into the area after the 1970s exposed that not only radio and TV signals but even the satellite and microwave did not work at the place. The researchers quickly named this place as the Zone of Silence. At present there is extensive research going in the place. Many natural abnormalities have been found at the Mapimi deserts of Mexico. There are high levels of magnetite found in this area.

Zone of Silence in the Mapimi Deserts of Mexico

Scientists have also reported that the deserts are hot bed for meteorites. The surface has some secret magnetic properties. Studies are going on to determine whether the magnetic properties in the area are result of magnetic ores buried underneath or a result of contamination caused by thousands of millions of years of meteorite bombardment upon this place. If the place has natural magnetic properties it could be a result of the iron rich objects landing from space at this remote location on Earth.

Zone of Silence is a Hot bed for meteors landing

Some of the theorists have sighted the location of the Mapimi Deserts as the cause of such abnormal behaviour. It is located just North of the Tropic of Cancer and has the same geographic coordinates south of the 30th parallel as Bermuda triangle. Further it has been revealed that the region was once at the bottom of the sea and has been named as The Sea of Thetys. There have been many unusual incidences seen in the area such as floating orbs, burning bushes, strange lights, flying saucers and even alien encounters. The nearby dwellers have reported that the night sky is often lit up by strange lights and alien spacecrafts land on the middle of the desert causing the bushes to catch fire.

Zone of Silence on the Map of Mexico

Some observers have even reported encounters with strange humanoid creatures. One of the ranch families saw a trio of blonde, long haired human like creatures, two males and a female who spoke perfect Spanish. Another researcher was lost in the middle of the desert and was shown the way to the research centre by the same trio. But none of the stories could be proved by any hard existence. Thus there remains a cloud whether these sightings are true or a work of human imagination.

Whatever may be the true cause Mapimi deserts known as the Zone of Silence are a weird place to tell the least. None of the modern technologies work at this place.

Did Cambodia have a Population of Dinosaur as Recent as Few Hundred Years?

Scientists all over the world have suggested that dinosaurs were wiped out from the Earth millions of years ago. While some suggest that a large meteor hitting Earth’s surface was the true cause others feel it was the global climate change that brought about their extinction. While a large group of scientists felt they had been entirely wiped out from Earth, a small fraction felt they could have survived in some of the remotest areas of the world in the dense forests. The claims of this small fraction were blown away.

Ta Prohm Temple in Cambodia

But recent pictures of the Ta Prohm Temple in the dense jungles of Cambodia seem to testify the belief of this small fraction of scientists. The Prohm Temple in Cambodia was constructed during the Khmer Civilization which had its glorious days between 800 AD and 1400 AD. There are many intricate carvings within this temple. And guess what these carvings contain? They have clear and distinct images of the Stegosaurus. People of Khmer Civilization might never have heard of the dinosaurs and if these creatures were truly extinct they might not even have seen them. Modern day scientists were able to decipher the features of the Stegosaurus with the help of 3D animation on the bones unearthed from various places of the Earth. But the Khmer Civilization did not have such technologies.

Image of Stegosaurus Etched in the Walls of the Temple

Earlier many researchers had blown away these carvings as recent addition to the temple. But samples and results of extensive research show that these were etched during the Khmer time period. The findings clearly indicate that the Stegosaurus was found in the dense jungles of Cambodia before the Khmer Civilization grew. Most stories among the natives suggest that the population of such beasts was less in number. May be the slow moving Stegosaurus was hunted by the local tribes and became extinct in the region with a span of time. Villagers in the vicinity of the temple claim that their ancestors had seen the Stegosaurus.

Stegosaurus - Slow Moving Creatures from Jurassic Age

Thus the dinosaurs did not become extinct all at the same time some migrating fractions lived on in the remote places of Earth such as the jungles of Cambodia.

How did the crew of Mary Celeste get Lost?

Mary Celeste was launched by the name “Amazon” in 1860; it was 103 feet long and carried about 280 tons of goods. In the next ten years there were many incidents and change of owners for this ship. It was bought and renamed as “Mary Celeste” under American registry. Benjamin Briggs was appointed the captain of the ship. The ship departed New York on November 7, 1972 with Captain Briggs, his wife, young daughter and had a crew of eight members. The cargo loaded in the ship contained 1700 barrels of American alcohol which was to be delivered at Genoa, Italy. But the crew members, captain Briggs and his family were never seen again.

Mary Celeste setting sail

The ship was found adrift on December 4, 1872 by another ship named Dei Gratia which was sailing from New York to Gibraltar. The Mary Celeste was found to be sailing alone across the Atlantic and there was no trace of any crew member. The ship was in best condition. All the essential parts of the ship such as masts, hull and sails were in sound condition. Even the cargo barrels of alcohol were stacked in its place. There was plenty of food and water in the ship that would aid the crew members. Soon the members of Dei Gratia checked the ship’s log and found that the last entry had been made on November 24 which was 10 days before its discovery. At the point of its last log record Mary Celeste was passing north of St. Mary’s Island near the Azores. This was 400 miles West of the place it was found. The ship had drifted without the crew and no one to steer for nearly week and a half. Yet this was highly improbable as the sails of the ship were set to catch the winds coming in from the starboard quarter. Dei Gratia was also following a similar path just behind by a few days. So how could the ship drift towards Dei Gratia in such a situation? Thus there must have been someone who guided the ship to its current course.

Mary Celeste Sighted by Crew Members of Dei Gratia

None of the 10 members on board of Mary Celeste were ever seen again. The official reason for this disappearance sited by the British and American authorities was that the crew got drunk and murdered the captain and his family. After the murder they might have boarded another passerby ship and fled. But the problem with this theory is that if this was the course of events then other sailors would have been seen at a later date. But none of them were ever seen.

Members of Dei Gratia inspected the Mary Celeste, though all the things were in place but a small four oared boat was missing. This suggested that some of the missing members could have used the boat to get away. Some researchers have suggested that there was seaquake traced by the ship’s captain. He ordered the evacuation of the ship to avoid this quake and all the crew were accommodated tightly in one small boat (which was missing). Then they set sail towards on a safe track. But the seaquake changed its direction and hit the small boat drowning all the members. Some have even gone as far as seeing this as a case of alien abduction.

Captain Benjamin Briggs who disappeared with his Family

But only authentic evidence (according to many) about the last days of Mary Celeste was found in the Fosdyk papers. Abel Fosdyk left some notes on his death that seemed to explain the real story and the fate of the crew of Mary Celeste. Fosdyk claims he ventured as a secret passenger on Mary Celeste. As Fosdyk was a close friend of Captain Briggs so the captain permitted him onboard. After setting sail the captain ordered the ship’s carpenter to construct a special deck for his small daughter on the bow. The newly built deck was fragile. Then on the day of disappearance of Mary Celeste there was a heated argument between the captain and a crew member about how well a person could swim around the ship putting all his clothes on. So both of them plunged into the sea and started swimming on the sides of the ship. Then a yell came from the other side and all the members onboard the Mary Celeste rushed to the other side. This side had been made fragile by the use of wooden planks for the special deck. Thus it could not keep the weight of the passengers and all of them fell into the sea. The yell was sounded by the crew member as he was attacked by a shark. Soon all the crew members were devoured by some sharks. Only Fosdyk survived clinging onto a small plank and getting to the northwest coast of Africa.

May be Mary Celeste was Caught in Sea quakes

Though Fosdyk papers scripts a neat story but there are some aspects in the story that do not match with the real physical evidence. Fosdyk claimed that the weight of Mary Celeste was 600 tons while its actual weight was a third of that. Moreover he has claimed that most of the mariners were Americans, while in reality they were Dutch. If we believe that the captain and one his crew members indeed go swimming, it would be very difficult to keep pace with the Mary Celeste that was running at several knots. There were also no signs of breaking or construction work on the deck of Mary Celeste upon its discovery.

So there is a large shroud of mystery regarding the disappearance of the crew members from Mary Celeste.

Baigong Pipes: What Mystery Lies within them?

Metallic pipes are not a mystery in today’s date; they are common place in modern civilization. But what if the pipes were found in a uninhabitated area and they dated back to many thousands or years ago? Now that is mysterious. In 2002 a group of scientists who were looking for fossils of Dinosaurs landed up in a pyramid shaped hill and found dozens of iron pipes all through the area. The pyramid and caves are located in the Qinghai Province of China in the Tibetan region on Mount Baigong.

Close View of the Baigong Pipes

The area is inhospitable to tell the least. But the people in the nearby vicinity of Delingha (a city in the northwest area) have claimed they heard about these mysterious pipes for many generations. There is no strong explanation for the presence of these pipes other then they were laid by aliens. Indeed the time line for the pipes strengthens their claims.

The Baigong pipes are 16 inches in diameter and stick out of caves’ walls as well as from the ceiling and floor. Most of the pipes are clean of any debris. Carbon dating and other tests conducted on the pipes date them back to thousands of years. These pipes are around 150,000 years old which predates human existence by 100,000 years. They are made of silicon dioxide, iron oxide, calcium oxide in a ratio of 8%.

Landscape with Iron Pipes near Baigong

Te researchers have been divided into three groups regarding the presence of the Baigong Pipes. One group believes that these pipes were created naturally, while another group says that they were planted by some advanced civilization for come astronomical purposes. But the common belief is that they were planted by the aliens for some special purpose.

Piece of Baigong Pipe used for Research

Problem with the theory sited by the second group of researchers is that these pipes have outdated human civilization and there are no solid traces that there was human civilization before the deluge. Scientists supporting that the pipes were made by the natural causes claim that natural water or volcanic material flowing over the sandstones could have resulted in the formation of such pipes.

But the truth of their existence is still an uncertainty. Chinese government has posed obstacles in the path of studies conducted on these pipes.

Is Hanging Gardens of Babylon a Truth or Myth?

Hanging Gardens of Babylon were considered as one of the seven wonders in the ancient world. The location of this wonder has been described as 50 miles south of Baghdad (in the present day city of Al Hillah in Iraq). According to historical writings it was a gift by King of Babylon Nebuchadnezzar II to please his home sick queen Amytis of Media. She had been craving for her home settings such as the mountainous and lush landscape of Persia. There seems to be a mystery in the creation of Hanging Gardens of Babylon.

Portrait of hanging Gardens of Babylon

Description of the Hanging Gardens

There are different descriptions regarding the size of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Heredotus’s account claims that the outer walls of this monument were 80 feet thick, 320 feet high and 56 miles in length. Another Greek historian Diodorus has stated that the Garden was 100 feet long, and 100 feet wide and was built in the form of tiers so that it resembled theatre. There are other impressive descriptions of the Garden.

Hanging Gardens of Babylon situated beside the Euphrates

How could fresh water from the Euphrates feed the Gardens?

There are contradictions regarding how water was supplied to keep the plants alive. Some claim that Archimedes screw was used pushing the water up to the vegetation. While some other historians believe there were chains attached with two wheels where buckets were tied and the water was pulled up. There were high stone slabs erected in the gardens to stop soil erosion. But then again such large stones were scarce in Babylon. Thus many feel that the name Hanging Garden might have been a result of wrong Greek translation. The real meaning should have been overhanging gardens.

Ground Breaking Engineering went into Hanging Gardens of Babylon

Did the Hanging Gardens Really Exist?

One of the raging controversies among the researchers is whether this ancient wonder really existed or not. If Hanging Gardens really existed there would be some written accounts by the local residents. Herodotus who was a noted historian from Babylon has extensively written about the beauty of this city but in none of his writings can we find the mention of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Most descriptions of the Hanging Gardens of Babylon have been written by Greek historians such as Diodorus and Strabo, who never visited Babylon. There is no mention of the Hanging Gardens in the official records of Babylon during those times. The credit of Nebuchadnezzar II who had been said to have created the Hanging Gardens is under question. Many researchers propose that the Gardens were built by Sennacherib who was the ruler of Assyria from 705 BC to 681 BC.

Nebuchadnezzar II Viewing the Hanging Gardens

So how did the Hanging Gardens of Babylon come to be known?

Many researchers claim that it was the invading armies of Alexander the Great who had all praises for the beauty and splendour of Mesopotamia spread such a word. They viewed the Tower of Babel and described it as a picturesque garden. The accounts kept on piling from person to person and finally it became a wonder.

Though another group of archaeologists feel that the Hanging Gardens of Babylon could have existed but the desert swallowed it. Till date the exact location or any signs testifying the actual existence of Hanging Gardens of Babylon has not been found.

Everlasting Storm Known as Catatumbo Lightning

Catatumbo lightning is indeed one of the mysterious happenings in the world. Such a unique natural phenomenon can be seen near the mouth of Catatumbo River at the mouth of Lake Maraicaibo in Venezuela. Such lightning happens due to friction between two clouds and forms an arc of voltage which spans across 5 kilometres. Such lightning are seen in the area for 140 to 160 nights each year and as many as 280 lightning discharges per hour.

A Shot of Catatumbo Lightning

The phenomenon is seen over the marshlands where the Catatumbo River meets Lake Maraicabo. Scientists have described this as the Catatumbo lightning as “greatest single generator of ozone in the world” after judging the intensity and frequency of the discharges. There are approximately 1,176,000 lightning strikes every year in this area and they have an intensity of up to 400,000 amperes and are visible across an area of 400 kiolmetres. The storm has also been named as Maracaibo Beacon as the lightning has guided many ships in their navigation across the ages. A popular story from 1595 states that Sir Francis Drake wanted to capture the city of Maracaibo by following the storm, he thought he could manage to fool the guards of the city in the dark, but the lightning strikes gave him away.

Maracaibo Marshlands

The lightning is so famous in Venezuela that it has been mentioned in the flags and appears in the coat of arms for the state of Zulia. Lake Maracaibo is found in this state. The storm is also mentioned in Zulia state’s anthem.

Catatumbo Lightning can be seen across 400 km

The winds coming in from the Andes Mountains have been cited as a reason for the strong storms and lightning. The decomposition of organic matter in the marshes causes ionised gases that collide with the winds coming from the Andes to create electrical discharges. As these ionised gases are lighter than air thus the gases rise up to the clouds and create the storm.

Though none of the UNESCO World Heritage sites are meteorological in nature but the Venezuelan government is pushing hard to make Catatumbo lightning the first one.

Mystery Regarding Stalin’s Death

Joseph Stalin the great Russian leader who had led his country for 30 years breathed his last at 9:50 p.m. on March 5, 1953. He was 73 years old and his death made thousands of people to line up in the snow to catch a glimpse of their great leader’s body. He has been termed as dictator by many over the decades. Though government sources claim that Stalin died of brain haemorrhage but there many who do not buy this cause of death. There were plenty of unusual incidences in his last days that force people to cast a doubt over the nature of his. Did he die of natural causes of brain haemorrhage or was he killed? Let us try to find the answers to these questions.

Portrait of Joseph Stalin

On 28 February night Stalin followed his usual routine. He sat with his close political friends Nikita Khrushchev, Nikita Beria, Nikolai Bulganin and Georgi Malenkov. They watched a movie in Kremlin and then went to Stalin’s country house which was 10 minutes outside Moscow for feasting. On March 1 early morning all the guests returned back to their houses in Moscow. But then a very out of the ordinary incident took place. Stalin was generally very cautious about his security. But he gave order to all the guards that they should go to bed at night and no one should disturb him at night.

Stalin's Dead Body at Kremlin

It was the revelation of one of the guards that night, Pyotr Lozgachev that raises further doubts. He confirmed that the order for the guards to retire was not given by Stalin rather it was given by his main guard Khrustalev. He recalls that Stalin used to taunt the guards over going to sleep at night and often looked into their eyes as if saying dare do so. So when such an order to sleep at night came no guard raised any doubts. All the guards and Stalin himself slept late that day. Till 6 in the evening there was no movement in Stalin’s room. But no one dared to disturb the great leader. So they waited and finally and half past six a light glowed inside the room and the guards were assured. But Stalin did not come out or no notable movements were seen inside the room. So at 10 p.m. Lozgachev was sent in to check Stalin’s health. He found Stalin lying, he had even wet himself and was making a strange noise. A copy of Pravda and his pocket-watch was lying on the floor. The time showing on the pocket-watch was 6:30 so may be something happened to him during that time.

Stalin's Coffin taken for State Burial

All the guards rushed to inform his drinking partners. But they had a very casual reaction to such grave news. They even spent a fair amount of time before calling for medical help. Many scholars feel that such a reaction makes it clear that they knew there was no need to hurry for Stalin’s rescue. Edvard Radzinski, a Stalin scholar feels that Stalin was poisoned to death. The poison was served to him by the main guard Khrustalev who had got such orders from the KGB chief Levrenty Beria. But why was he killed?

Everyone surrounding Stalin was wary of his decision to go into World War III. Everyone except Stalin knew that Soviet Union was financially poor. All that USSR had was nuclear weapons but the other natural resources were scant. But Stalin was relentless and wanted to wage a final war against the Americans for supremacy. There was widespread dissent among his political associates and the general public. Stalin had also planned an Anti-Semitic campaign which was known only to Beria. He alone knew that the deportation of Jews was planned on March 5. There were special barns built in Kazakhstan to provide shelter to the Jews. This did not go well with Beri and he conspired against Stalin.

Mystery Regarding the Death of Louis XVII, The Lost Dauphin

French revolution has been termed as the greatest revolution led by the people against dictatorship. But there is big mystery regarding the fate of Louis XVI and his wife Marie Antoinette’s son Louis XVII. He was lost after the revolution and nothing much could be known about him. Researchers have been debating about his fate for over 200 years now. Did he die in the prison? Did he escape from the prison and become a German clockmaker, an American naturalist or an Episcopal minister?

Portrait of Louis XVII or Louis Charles

There are no doubts that Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette were guillotined by the revolutionaries. But their son and the heir to the throne, the 10 year old boy Louis XVII disappeared in 1795 never to resurface again. After the reversal of power Louis XVII along with his mother and sister were imprisoned until July 3, 1793. On that date the guards came into the prison cell and took away the baby Prince from the arms of his mother. Though Marie Antoinette pleaded to the guards for an hour but finally she had to sacrifice the little child to save the girl baby. Marie Theresa who is Louis’ sister recalls how her mother gave up her brother when she was threatened that both the babies will be killed otherwise. For nearly two years Louis is said to have been imprisoned in a small windowless room. But what happened next is a mystery.

Marie Antoinette and Louis XVII Praying in Prison

According to the French official records the boy died at the age of 10 on June 8, 1795 after suffering from tuberculosis, but most of the people do not buy this record. Many feel the boy died due to neglect and maltreatment, while others feel he was murdered. Another group of scholars opine that he did not die at all, he was rather transported to a safe location and another child was put in his place. The mystery further intensifies as the doctor who had examined Louis XVII died mysteriously a week before the boy’s death. His wife hinted that her husband was asked to take part in some irregularities which he refused.

Castle where Marie Antoinette & Louis Charles were Imprisoned

Rumours ran rife that the boy was murdered by the radical governing body of the revolution so that there would be no claimant on the throne. In 1814 historian of the newly restored French monarchy claimed that Louis Charles (or Louis XVII) was alive though he did not confide his location. Most common rumour was that Louis Charles was transported off to America. Then in 1846 many graves from the French Revolution era were dug up and one child’s body was found who had died due to tuberculosis. On close examination of the body the boy appeared lot older than Louis XVII’s described age. The boy whose body was found was in his middle to late teens.

Urn Containing the Heart of Louis XVII

Soon many claimed to be the real Louis XVII in exile. One of them was famous naturalist John James Audubon. He never made any claims publicly but in his letter to his wife on a visit to France, he writes “patient, silent, bashful, and yet powerful of physique and of mind, dressed as a common man, I walk the streets! I bow! I ask permission to do this or that! I …who should command all!” He was adopted at near about the same time as Louis XVII vanished and he was born in the same year. Other claimants include Eleazer Williams an Episcopal minister who was raised by a Mohawk Native American and a white woman and German clockmaker Karl Wilhelm Naundorf. But the examination of their DNA after their death confirmed that they were hoaxes.

In 2000 tests were carried out on the heart of the boy who died of tuberculosis. The sample from the boys preserved heart was matched with a lock of hair taken from Marie Antoinette and they matched. Most of the scholars believe that this is the body of Louis XVII. But there is controversy here too. The doctor who conducted the autopsy of the boy hid the heart in a handkerchief and pickled it in alcohol. Later he passed it onto his student. The heart was later placed at the Palace under the supervision of the Archbishop. It was later sent to the Spanish branch of the Bourbon family and restored at Saint Denis Basilica in 1999. Some critics opine that there are high chances that the heart was replaced during so many transfers. Moreover though the DNA samples match but it cannot be confirmed in the tests whether the boy was the son of Marie Antoinette. It could well be a relative to the queen. So the mystery still seems unsolved.

The Art of Creating a Press Release

When I was doing my masters in Mass Communication I was taught that Press Releases are official stories provided to the press by the business houses featuring some important events or news in their organisation. These were written in a press ready format. But fact is stranger then fiction! I became a content writer and soon many harsh realities about online press release writing confronted me. Now the press releases written by the content writers are used for submission that would be looked upon as popularity votes by the search engines. They are not often read by the general public. Still as a content writer you cannot just type rubbish and project it as a Press Release.

Primarily Press Release were for Press Only

Most of my clients want two or three press releases for their site every month. But when you have a look at their websites there is not much latest news to focus upon. So what do you do in such a situation? Well you have a thorough look through the website and decide on the notable policies, products/services that the website is projecting. You can write about the products, low prices offered for them by the store, or why people should buy from that specific website only as themes. If there are new entries in the stock list then bingo you have got a great topic to write about.

Press Release Distribution has Become SEO Tool

So far we have planned about the creation of topics of press release writing now let us dwell on how the press release is written after all. Let us try to write a press release for this present site Annoyz View. As many mystery based blogs have been posted this month at the website so we will look to focus on that. As per the format the left hand side has to be dedicated to contact details. On top you should write “Press Release” to mention that it is not any other form of online content but a Press Release write up. Then mention “For Immediate Release” which provides the information that this news can be made public immediately. If you wish to release the news at a later date simply add “To Be Published on …”. Then comes the “Contact” section. You have to provide the company or website’s name at the top most portion. Write down the details of street, city, district, state, phone number, mobile number, email and website address.

Sample Press Release Write Up for Annoyz View

Now comes the title. See how I have planned a title which caters some news about the website and also promotes it somewhat.

Title of Press Release

Then start off by providing the city and state name along with the date and year. This is customary as Press Releases were primarily for media houses and were sent in press ready format. In newspapers you will view news starts in this format.

Top Left hand Side of Press Release

The first paragraph of the press release should be kept short. It would merely elucidate the content in the title. Titles don’t often allow all the feelings to be expressed. There is no place for promotion in this paragraph. Limit the paragraph to 3 lines max.

First Paragraph of Press Release

In the second paragraph you will go ahead and further describe the news. I have mentioned the mystery blogs that have been posted at Annoyz View for the month of November. This will make the readers aware that there are quality blogs posted at the website. Try to promote the services and products in this paragraph with a news overtone to it.

Then comes the third paragraph. In this paragraph you may promote the company and its services with a news undertone to it.
