Why the World will not End in 2012?

As 2011 comes to an end everyone is ready to welcome the new year 2012. But some people are scared about the Mayan prediction which says that the world will end on December 21, 2012. There is a widespread scare all around the world. Unlike other years, this New Year is bringing mixed emotions some of happiness others of fear. But according to NASA this is a scare very similar to Y2K! Knowledge about the prediction has helped the elite scientists world over look into various aspects that could cause an end to the world. Let’s have a look at some of their answers:

Mayan Calendar end on December 21, 2012, So What?

Would Earth really face an end in 2012?

Nothing will happen to Earth in 2012. The planet has been going along just fine for over 4 billion years now and there are no imminent threats to the world (even after intensive studies and research) in the immediate future.

Origin of the End of the World Theory

Nibiriu is nowhere to be found!

The story started when some claimed that a supposed planet known as Nibiru which was discovered by the Sumerians is headed towards Earth. Though the catastrophe of impact was predicted in 2003 but nothing like the doomsday happened back then. So the date was moved forward to December 21, 2012. Then the two stories were mingled: end of the Mayan calendar in winter of 2012 and the collision of Nibiru and Earth.

Mayan calendar ends in December 2012

Every calendar has a ending date, whatever it may be. The Mayan calendar so far followed may be ending on 21st December, 2012 but that does not mean the ancients told us to stop counting time and date after that. May be for some purpose they had finished creating dates uptil this timeframe and wanted their predecessors to carry the work forward. Another theory suggests that may be other elaborated portion of the Mayan calendar has gone missing with time.

Planets Alignment and its Impact on Earth

Alignment of Planets will remain same

There are no planetary alignments in the next few decades leave alone the next year. Earth will not cross the galactic plane in 2012. Even if it does the effect on Earth would be almost negligible. Each year in the month of December the sun and Earth align at the centre of the Milky Way but that is an annual incidence.

Nibiriu or Erius approaching Earth

Erius will remain in the outer solar system

Nibiriu and other planets are hoax. If there was any similar planet approaching Earth the astronomers would be monitoring it for the last decade or so. It would also be visible to the naked eyes by now. Eris is a real planet but it is located and will continue to remain in the outer solar system. Closest Erius can come to Earth is about 4 billion miles.

Polar shift Theory

There will be no drastic polar shifts to cause harm

Reversal in the rotation of the Earth is impossible. Slow movements of the continents have been happening form hundreds of millions of years but they will never cause reversal of the rotational poles. Some websites are claiming that magnetic polarity of Earth and rotation are correlated. Even if there was a change in the magnetic reversal there will be no harm to life on Earth.

Earth being hit by Comets, Meteors or Asteroids

Impacts of comets and asteroids have been very rare on Earth. The last big impact was about 65 million years ago when the dinosaurs were wiped out. The NASA astronomers have been monitoring the space for such objects. So far there are no asteroids that could cause any concern to Earth.

There is no science behind the claims that Earth will end on December 21, 2012. There is no evidence provided by the end of the world theorists. And all these findings have been made NASA so they should be authentic. So put on your party shows because the New Year is knocking at your doors. Very happy and prosperous New Year to all the readers. Have a great year ahead and merry times!
