As 2011 comes to an end everyone is ready to welcome the new year 2012. But some people are scared about the Mayan prediction which says that the world will end on December 21, 2012. There is a widespread scare all around the world. Unlike other years, this New Year is bringing mixed emotions some of happiness others of fear. But according to NASA this is a scare very similar to Y2K! Knowledge about the prediction has helped the elite scientists world over look into various aspects that could cause an end to the world. Nothing will happen to Earth in 2012. The planet has been going along just fine for over 4 billion years now and there are no imminent threats to the world (even after intensive studies and research) in the immediate future.

The story started when some claimed that a supposed planet known as Nibiru which was discovered by the Sumerians is headed towards Earth. Though the catastrophe of impact was predicted in 2003 but nothing like the doomsday happened back then. So the date was moved forward to December 21, 2012. Then the two stories were mingled: end of the Mayan calendar in winter of 2012 and the collision of Nibiru and Earth.

The Mayan calendar so far followed may be ending on 21^st December, 2012 but that does not mean the ancients told us to stop counting time and date after that. May be for some purpose they had finished creating dates uptil this timeframe and wanted their predecessors to carry the work forward. Another theory suggests that may be other elaborated portion of the Mayan calendar has gone missing with time.

Closest Erius can come to Earth is about 4 billion miles.

Polar shift Theory

There will be no drastic polar shifts to cause harm

Reversal in the rotation of the Earth is impossible. Slow movements of the continents have been happening form hundreds of millions of years but they will never cause reversal of the rotational poles. Some websites are claiming that magnetic polarity of Earth and rotation are correlated. Even if there was a change in the magnetic reversal there will be no harm to life on Earth.

Impacts of comets and asteroids have been very rare on Earth. The last big impact was about 65 million years ago when the dinosaurs were wiped out. The NASA astronomers have been monitoring the space for such objects. So far there are no asteroids that could cause any concern to Earth.

There is no science behind the claims that Earth will end on December 21, 2012. There is no evidence provided by the end of the world theorists. And all these findings have been made NASA so they should be authentic. So put on your party shows because the New Year is knocking at your doors. Who Murdered the Princes in the Tower?

Princes in the Tower is used to describe the two young prices Edward V of England and Richard of Shrewsbury or the first Duke of York. They were the sons of Edward IV and Elizabeth Woodville. Edward IV died in 1483 after settling the War of Roses. He left the throne vacant upon his death. His younger brother Richard, Duke of Gloucester took over the royal duties as a regent after the princes were termed as illegitimate by an Act of Parliament known as Titulus Regius. It did not take much time for Richard III to claim himself as the monarch of England. The young princes were sent to the Tower of London. Their safety was sighted as the reason for such an action. But all the skeptics believed that it was due to the safety of Richard III reign. They were last seen in the summer of 1483 after which they were sent to the Tower.

There are no records to tell the exact whereabouts of these young princes. Most feel they were murdered by their uncle in lust for power. But there are no records or their funerals too. According to some sources close to Richard III the boys were moved to the kings holdings in the North for their safety and they remained there till the battle of Bosworth. In 1674 during the renovations done to the White Tower two skeletons were discovered under a staircase leading to the chapel. But the staircase had been built two centuries before princes’ disappearance. So these bodies couldn’t be there’s. But on close examination of the skeletons that they belonged to children one of whom was seven to eleven and the other was around thirteen. So these could be the corpses of the missing Princes in the Tower.

In the recent past the theory of Princes being murdered has been accepted by all the researchers. But who committed this crime? Let us have a look at some of the suspects:

Richard III prime suspect for the murder

• Richard III: Though he was made the monarch by the Parliament’s Act but his position was not secured. Though the boys were not a direct threat to Richard III’s throne but they could be used by the enemies to lead a rebellion. Though the rumors of Princes’ death were in circulation since 1483 but Richard III never tried to prove the rumors by exposing them in public. It suggests that the Princes were dead by then. There may be other reasons for Richard’s silence too, he was the savoir of the Princes, even if they had been murdered by someone else he would have been blamed for failing to protect them. Most of the modern historians regard Richard III as the culprit for this foul murder.
• James Tyrell: He was one of the English knights who fought for the House of York. Some scholars regard him as the culprit. Tyrell was arrested by Henry VII’s forces in 1501 for supporting a rebellion against the throne. He was executed very soon. But under torture he admitted murdering the princes with orders from Richard III. However there are no written records that support this claim.

• Henry VII: He ascended the throne defeating Richard III. To strengthen his claim on the throne he married princes elder sister Elizabeth of York. But the inheritance claims of the Princess depended upon the death of her brothers. So he may have found out the safe location where the Princes were hidden and murdered them after 1485. But the problem with this theory is why were the princes not seen after the summer of 1483.

Though there were many pretenders who came forward claiming themselves as the Princes but the real Princes were never to be found or heard of again.

Mysterious Skeletons from the Skeleton Lake

Roopkund is a glacial lake situated high in the Indian part of Himalayas. This lake is also popularly known as Skeleton Lake. The lake is more than 16,000 feet above the sea level and is nestled in a valley with steep sides. No one can inhabit in this area, even passing through the area can prove fatal for normal human beings. However, in 1942 a forest guard stumbled across the Skeleton Lake. There were numerous human skeletons found in the lake. When the locals were asked about this strange incident they reported about knowing beforehand. Soon many researchers started the quest to find the true origins of these skeletons. Many speculated that war was the direct cause of these dead skeletons. But intensive study of the skeletons revealed that they were much older then they appeared at first glance.

Studies on the skeletons found in the Skeleton Lake brought to the fore that these skeletons did not belong to the modern era. They had been lying in these forlorn valley for many centuries. There were more than 200 skeletons found near the lake and many more in the depths of the lake beneath the soil. None of the studies proved conclusive in providing details about the origins or death causes of these skeletons. Most popular theory about these skeletons is that they had died of some virulent disease, famine, natural disaster or massacre. But in 2004 a viable cause was cited for these skeletons death.

The dates of the skeletons in the Skeleton Lake date back to 850 AD. Researchers feel they belong to a group of travelers. The possessions found with the skeletons do not bear evidence of any settlement. So they have been best described as travelers. But why were they travelling through such a gruesome place? The reasons have still not been deciphered. But they may not have been travelling any place close to the Roopkund, rather their skeletons were brought to this place by glacier movement.

Another interesting fact about these skeletons is that all of them have evidence of injuries. They have injuries caused due to force applied to head and shoulders. On close inspection the wounds seem to have been inflicted by round objects. These injuries may be the exact cause of their death. Though the injuries are not similar to wounds caused in war, so they may have been caused due to trauma caused by a hailstorm.

 

Though the idea of so many people being killed by a hailstorm sounds strange. But their possessions had nothing that could protect them from harsh weather. There are no shelters that could shield them. Furthermore the skeletons seem to be protecting one another (which is suggested by their wounds). Most of the skeletons have severe wounds while others do not have even scratches. So there are plenty of questions that go unanswered about the skeletons in the Skeleton Lake.

Who was the Strange Babushka Lady?

John F Kennedy the thirty fifth President of the United States of America was assassinated on November 22, 1963 when he was travelling in a motorcade along with his wife. In the days following the assassination of JFK investigators relied on statements by the spectators and people who were filming when JFK’s motorcade was passing through. The movies and films were sent to the labs for development as they would be used as evidences to find out what really happened that afternoon. Though the films and photos were not of the highest quality but they would prove very circumstantial nonetheless. Many photographers had fled the spot once the shots rang out. Most of the people in the crowd were not sure as to which direction the shots were being fired from. Everyone scattered to find safe places.

There was too much of conflicting information provided by the statements of the onlookers and shooting of Lee Harvey Oswald (the prime suspect) added to the confusion. So the investigators eagerly waited for the photographs and movie footage to arrive. They did not know back then that the photographs would bring forth another mystery. Several photographs showed a woman with a supposedly camera in front of her face pointing towards the President’s motorcade even as the shots were fired. She is seen standing at the best vantage point, very close to the motorcade. She is seen wearing a scarf of light brown colour. This head scarf has earned her the name Babushka Lady in reference to similar scarf worn by the Russian grandmothers known as Babushkas. Though she is seen in many photographs but the closest view of the lady is found in the movie shot by Marie Muchmore.

All the investigating officials were surprised how the lady moved so close to the motorcade. Further, they were interested in seeing the photographs or movie that Babushka Lady had taken. Another interesting thing observed about the Lady was that while everyone else was running when the shots were fired this Lady continued filming the procession. Soon FBI started interrogating everyone in the vicinity of the incident. But the woman better known as babushka Lady never came forward. She was in the best position to provide incredible proof for the incident. Later on a Dallas film developer that he had developed a single colour slide which was somewhat blurry. The description of the photos could be taken from a location where the Babushka Lady was standing.

However, in 1970 the trail of Babushka Lady came to an end when a woman named Beverly Oliver claimed that she was the Babushka Lady. Oliver claimed that her camera had been confiscated by the FBI on the day of incident and it was never returned. Though FBI thought they had solved the mystery but when Oliver identified the camera she had been using it was found that this model came into existence many years after the assassination. Many witnesses also confirmed that Oliver was seen nowhere close to where the Babushka Lady was standing. Analysis of the photos further suggested that the Babushka Lady was much older and healthier than Oliver.

This mysterious woman never came forward though over the years many theories have been suggested over her hiding.

Rust Free Iron Pillar of Qutub Minar

The iron pillar of Qutub Minar in Delhi is nearly 24 feet tall and weighs 6 tons. This pillar is made of wrought iron. Recent studies into the structure have revealed that the pillar was crafted with the use of forge welding. Though a marvelous structure but it is well known for an ancient mystery. The pillar stands in the Quwwat-ul Mosque and was constructed in 1192. It stands among many ruins found in the area. The mosque is an testimony of Islamic India. But the pillar is much ancient then the other structures surrounding it. But onlookers will not be able to guess its age. Though the iron pillar was forged about 1600 years ago and moved to Delhi nearly 1000 years ago (even the mosque was built). Though such a pillar should have fallen to dust due to erosion and rust but till date the pillar stands tall. Though some of the other pillars in the locality are found in a dilapidated condition this is not the case with the Iron Pillar of Qutub Minar.

The inscription on the Iron Pillar states that the pillar was made for a king. The year prescribed for the creation of this Pillar roughly collides with the Gupta period. This pillar was constructed to honor one of the most important Gods of Hindus – Vishnu.  Though the name of the Hindu king is not specified in the inscription but most researchers hold the king as Chandragupta Vikramaditya. But what was the purpose of this Iron Pillar? While some say it was a royal symbol for the mentioned king others opine that this was a sun dial in its original location in Madhya Pradesh. Why was it moved? No one seems to have a proper answer as to why and who moved this pillar from Madhya Pradesh to Delhi.

But the biggest talking point about the Iron Pillar at Delhi is how has it gone untarnished through the ages? Many explanations have been cited for this rust free nature of the pillar. The pillar is in unbelievable condition given the age of its creation. Though it has a small amount of rust but that does not undermine the mystery in any way.

One of the main catalysts for rusting is humidity and Delhi is not very humid. This is one of the factors that has contributed to the rust free nature of the Iron Pillar of Delhi. Other reasons are the master skills of the men who made this marvel. May be there was a protective coating provided to the iron which has made it withstand for so many years. Though there are extensive studies going on to determine the key to rust free pillar but the keys might have been lost in time.

Today the Iron pillar of Qutub Minar simply stands as a marvel of Indian architecture and a mystery to the world.

Truths about Jesus Bloodline

For many centuries now there is a veil of mystery surrounding the reality of Jesus Christ. He is the preacher of greatest religion on Earth (in terms of followers), but in the recent past intensive studies into the life of this great man has brought many things to light. While most Biblical text do not report anything about Jesus’ love or family life, many scholars feel that Jesus was not “single”. Thus comes Mary Magdalene, the mystery woman always named with Jesus. Early in the 13^th century monk and chronicler Peter of Vaux de Cerny claimed that Jesus had a relationship with Mary Magdalene. He described her as a concubine of Jesus. Then Jedediah M. Grant and Orson Hyde stated that Jesus had not one but many wives. Mary and Elizabeth were just two out of a host of others.

Then Louis Martin who was a French philosopher of the 19^th century added that Jesus and Mary Magdalene were indeed married and they travelled to France where they had a son. Then in 1977 Andreas Faber Kaiser claimed that Jesus came to Kashmir (India) and married a Kashmiri woman and they had several children. He even interviewed one named Basharat Saleem who claimed to be a descendant of Jesus. Many other authors have written popular accounts of how Jesus had a relationship with Mary Magdalene and then went on to marry her.

Many claim that Mary Magdalene was the wisest of Jesus’ students. She was closest to Jesus and this even caused other disciples to envy her. She is supposed to have written her own literature which have either been destroyed or ceased by the church. In some of the books about Christ’s bloodline it is claimed that Mary Magdalene was forced to hide. The popular disciples of Jesus wanted to eradicate her name from any accounts. They wanted to portray Jesus as a single individual, pure and without any desires. Mary Magdalene also faced many hostilities after which she was scouted to a safe location. For the remainder of her life she was forced to hide out and may be died in Paris (France).

It has been discovered that descendants of Jesus’ bloodline were all eminent personalities such as Galileo, Isaac Newton, etc. Some even claim that the St Clairs, who later became Sinclair’s were direct descendants of Jesus Christ. Whoever it may be one thing is for sure there was definitely a link between Mary Magdalene and Jesus. Many lost archives have been found from Jesus’ lifetime, may be some archives will be found in future which will link Jesus and his bloodline.

The Strange Case of The Taos Hum

Taos is small town in New Mexico having a population of 4,700 residents. A strange phenomenon has been reported by the residents of Taos. They hear a strange humming noise which resembles the sound of an idle diesel engine being left running. There have been thorough investigations conducted upon the source of this sound but it has not yielded any tangible results. The noise is weird as the people can not eradicate the noise even after putting on the ear plugs. The noise seems to be louder inside the rooms than outside. While some people have complained they hear it all the while others hear it at intermitent intervals.

Locals have stated that this humming sound began about 20 years ago. When the local researchers found no solution for their problem they contacted the United States Congress in 1993 to help them out. In 1997 investigations started into the source and reason of this strange humming sound. The investigators started out by interviewing many of the local people affected by the Taos Hum. They found that this sound caused dizziness, nose bleeding, irritations, and many other symptoms of sleep disorder. Many locals believed that the hum was a result of the secret military installations or government projects run in the nearby areas.

While some felt it was caused by electromagnetic waves caused by the meteors others attributed it to the signals sent by the base to the submarines. Another strange fact about this humming sound is that women hear this sound more than men. Some people do not hear the sound at all. There were many other questions that came to the forefront such as why the sound is heard in this exact town only? What is the true cause of this noise? Why did this noise start 20 years ago?

What were the true Causes of Napoleon’s Death?

Napoleon Bonaparte is name known to all, he was one of the greatest military generals of his times. The mighty English were wary of his warfare tactics. But in 1813 Napoleon was finally defeated by the coalition forces in Leipzig. Napoleon was forced to abdicate and the English exiled him to island of Elba. But within a year he escaped from Elba, but he faced defeat in the Battle of Waterloo in June 1815. He was exiled to the Atlantic island of Saint Helena where he was under arrest. Six years later at the age of 52 he braethed his last. His last words were “Head of Army”. For nearly 200 years after his death there were allegations of murder labelled against the British. Many felt the British were scared that Napoleon would return back to France again and stage an uprising that would be hard for the British to resist, thus the authorities decided to end his life.

An autopsy conducted after the death of Napoleon Bonaparte stated that he had died of stomach cancer. But advanced studies conducted in 1961 found some evidence of arsenic in the ruler’s hair. Soon the rumors of poisoning ran rife. British on their part had many motives to kill Napoleon too. But recently conducted medical investigations over the death of Napoleon confirmed that the Emperor had indeed died of natural causes.

The results were furnished after going through the autopsy reports, Bonaparte’s physician memoirs, family medical histories and eyewitness accounts. These findings were migled with modern medical knowledge to come to a conclusion. They concluded that it was an advanced case of gastric cancer that killed Napoleon and not earlier specualted arsenic poisoning. The medical investigators further claimed that the immediate cause of his death was gastrointestinal bleeding. The physical condition of this great Emperor was so critical that even he had been released he would not have been able to change the course of European history. Even in modern times when there are sophisticated equipments and chemotherapies seldom do we see a patient with advanced stages of gastric cancer (as Napoleon had) survive.

The autopsy done by Bonaparte’s physician claims that Napoleon had two ulcerated lessions. The large one in the stomach while the smaller one had pierced through his stomach walls and reached the liver. The lessions were at least 10 centimeters long and thus they were definitely cancerous in nature. Even if the Emperor was treated today he would survive no more than a year. The cancer had spread throughout other organs. It was revealed that Napoleon’s father also died from cancer.

Cancer was caused due to a ulcer causing bacterial infection that Napoleon might have incurred. Napoleon had to sustain on salt preserved foods and not much fruits or vegetables during his extended military campaigns. This increased his risks of gastric cancer.

Where Did Christopher Columbus Land in America?

Though Vikings are the first Europeans to set foot on American mainland but the credit of discovery of America is still given to Columbus and there is no mystery upon this. When Christopher Columbus discovered America in 1492 he did not know he would change the course of history and connect the old world with the new world of America. From the initial days there has been a debate as to where Columbus landed on America. Documents claim that Columbus landed on the Bahamas Island in his quest for Asia. But which island no one seems to have a clue.

Many scholars have been studying the written logs of Columbus to come to a conclusion. Some modern navigational experts have even tried a backwards journey following the logs from a specific Canary Islands across the Atlantic but there have been not much success. A dairy of Columbus was founded and many felt this would provide definitive answers to a long mystery. But the dairy was only partially written by Columbus himself as most parts are supposed to have been written by Dominican sea friar who had been in the crew of Columbus. Description of the island on which Columbus and his crew landed is controversial. It is mentioned in the dairy that the island had agricultural features. Most of the islands in the Bahamas are agriculturally rich. There is a phrase in the dairy “una laguna en medio muy grande” which the scholars feel describes a large lake in the middle of the island or a large lagoon near the shoreline.

In the diary it is clearly mentioned that Columbus landed on an island named San Salvador, so there must not be any room for confusion as there is an island named San Salvador in Bahamas. But fact is San Salvador came to be known by its present only after 1920s. Earlier it was known as Watlings Island. Some scholars have sited Samana Cay as the possible landing site of Columbus.  But there are other islands been debated over as well such as the Plana Cays, Grand Turk, Mayaguana and Conception Island.

Columbus had mentioned over and over again before his death that he had landed on an island very close to Asia. It would never be possible to retrace Columbus’ route as there have been many changes in the location of landmasses ever since.
